New in version 5.3, drag chords from the Chord Track onto an Instrument Track to start composing right away. Chord notes can even be extracted directly from the audio by detecting their chords and dragging the audio event onto an Instrument Track.

Modern composers need tools that allow them to incorporate electronic elements with traditional notation. The new Score View in Studio One fuses the best features of PreSonus' award-winning notation software, Notion, into Studio One 5. In addition to traditional notation, drum notation and tablature options are also offered. You can view multiple staves at once to work with voices, or view only one track at a time.
A score with a view.
Music Editor Views can be selected per track, so you can switch between Score View, Drum View, and conventional Piano Roll View – or, view the same note data in different Views at the same time. Sheet music can be printed directly from Studio One. Staff presets make creating scores quick and easy by automatically setting the appropriate track name, clef, staff type, and transposition for each instrument. And of course, scores created in Studio One can be sent to Notion and vice versa.
The tool of the modern composer.
Working with complex orchestral libraries means managing complicated articulations. Studio One offers the next level of articulation support with Sound Variations. You'll be able to take full advantage of the complex virtual instruments and orchestral libraries that are essential for modern composers. An expanded mapping editor offers tools for managing complex articulation maps, and Sound Variations can be dragged and dropped in any order or placed in custom folders for lightning-fast navigation.
Compose the way you want
A new custom dynamic mapping API provides automatic mapping with third-party instruments from UJAM, Vienna Symphonic Library, and EastWest OPUS, with more to come. Sound variations can be triggered by key switches, hardware drivers, keyboard shortcuts, custom macros, or highly customizable custom layouts for Studio One Remote. New to version 5.3, sound variations can now be triggered simply by placing their mapped music symbols in the score view, and dynamic marks are now tied to note velocity. Any music symbols or dynamic marks entered in Score View will also be visible and editable in a new Piano View lane.
Built-in mastering.
Studio One Professional is the only DAW that links songs and stems to finished, mastered Projects. Transfer mixes or mixed stems to the Project page for mastering—but if you hear something you need to change, just go back to the Song to fix it; the revised version is updated with a single click so you can continue mastering without losing any previous work. Use native Studio One effects and your favorite third-party plug-ins or external hardware processors to provide the EQ, dynamics, and final imaging control you need to create professional sound.
From the master to the distribution.
Studio One's Projects page also offers powerful analysis tools, such as spectrum analysis, M/S processing, EBU and K-system loudness measurement, phase meter, and oscilloscope to provide visual confirmation of what's being done. listening, as well as to help comply with existing broadcast and duplication regulations. Apply processing to individual tracks or the entire collection, to take your masters to the next level. And when your masterpiece is ready, you'll find DDP export, burn to CD, and direct upload to Soundcloud and PreSonus Sphere options to share your master recordings with clients and collaborators—or release your albums to the world.
