Notepad ++ is a free source code editor, which supports several programming languages and runs on MS Windows.
This project, based on the Scintilla editing component (a powerful editor), is written in C ++ using the win32 and STL API directly (which ensures a faster execution speed and a smaller size of the final program), is distributed under The terms of the GNU General Public License.
This is a mature project. However, you can observe that, since it is a one-man project, it still has no errors and some characteristics. If you have any questions or suggestions about this project, please send me a message: I will be happy to assist you. Features:
Highlighting and folding syntax:
Supported languages: C, C ++, Java, C #, XML, HTML, PHP, Javascript, RC resource file, makefile, ASCII art (.nfo extension) file, doxygen, ini file, batch files, ASP, VB / VBS, SQL, Objective-C, CSS, Pascal, Perl, Python, and LUA source files.
WYSIWYG:
If you have a color printer, you can print the source code (or whatever you want) in color.
Configurator style:
For each style in all supported languages, the user can change the background or foreground color, font, font size and font style (bold or italic) through dialogue configurator style.
Syntax highlighting User Defined:
Allows user to define his own language: not only the keywords of the syntax highlighting, but also folding keywords syntax, comment keywords and operators.
Multiple documents:
You can edit multiple documents at the same time.
Multiple views:
You have two views at the same time. This means that you can view (edit) 2 different documents at the same time. You can also view (edit) in the 2 views a single document in 2 different positions. Modifying the document in one view will take place in the other (that is, you can modify the same document when in clone mode).
Supported regular expression search:
You can search for a string in the document by using the regular expression.
Full drag and drop:
You can open a document using drag and drop. You can also move the document from one location (or even a view) to another by drag-and-drop.

The user can adjust the position of the views dynamically (only in 2 views mode: the splitter can be set to horizontal or vertical).
Automatic detection of file status:
If you modify or delete a file which opened in Notepad ++, you will be notified to update your document (reload the file or delete the file).

Environment multiple languages supported:
Supports Windows environments in Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
Marker:
The user can simply click on the bookmark margin (located right side of line number margin) or press CTRL + F2 to change a bookmark. To reach the marker, press only F2 (next marker) or Shift + F2 (marker above). To delete all bookmarks, click on the search menu-> delete all.
Highlighting guideline of wrench and bleeding:
When the cursor is next to one of these symbols {} [] (), the symbol next to the cursor and the opposite symbol will be highlighted, and the guideline of bleeding (if There is a) to locate the block more easily.
Recent Changes (17th Jan 2017):
- In the previous version, "Gene5 MD5 fom text dialog" is the result of non-ANSI characters (Unicode text). This bug has been fixed in this release.
- An enhancement for customizing of Word characters is added in this version: While double-clicking to select or searching with "Match whole word only" option, the selected characters stop on non-word characters. With this enhancement, users can include any non-word character in a word character set, in order to change its default behavior.
